Position: Associate professor in the Department of Technology.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility will be teaching photography courses. Secondary responsibilities include advisement, curriculum development, laboratory management, scholarly / creative activities, and professional service. This individual must be willing to be actively involved in maintaining professional contacts.

Qualifications:
An earned doctorate or MFA in the field is required. Teaching experience is required, including basic black and white courses, color, studio lighting, large format, digital imaging and product photography. Professional experience in the field of photography is highly desirable. The individual selected must be eligible to serve on the graduate faculty.

Rank and Salary: Compensation commensurate with appointee's experience and qualifications.

Position: Assistant Professor of Design Technology

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses and supervise laboratory activities in the Department of Industrial Technology in two (2), or more, areas of expertise from the following:

  • Computer Imaging/Multimedia
  • Exhibit Design
  • Graphic Design/Publication
  • Model Making/Model Design
  • Technology Education

Application of appropriate computer technologies required. Ability to teach other professional courses may be required. Participate in grant writing, advise undergraduate students, serve on department and university committees, participate in community service, and perform other related services as they are assigned. Assist in development of field contacts with business and industrial representatives. Conduct scholarly activities and participate in professional activities. The above responsibilities may include assignments away from the central campus and course delivery via Interactive Television, or other distance learning formats as determined by the University.

Qualifications:
Earned Doctorate degree in Industrial Technology, Vocational Education, or related area preferred. A completed MFA may be acceptable depending on assignments at the time of the appointment. An earned doctorate or MFA is required as one of the conditions for tenure consideration. Post secondary teaching experience and/or related industrial and higher education experience required. All applicants must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States at the time of an offer of employment.

The Visual Communication Technology faculty team at BGSU is actively searching for individuals to complement their teaching, curriculum and research efforts. As a member of VCT's cross media program, this visionary individual should possess the ability to analyze communication problems, conceptualize ideas and create effective solutions. The successful candidate must demonstrate media agility and have expertise in at least two of the following areas: digital photography, print, video, audio, exhibitry, internet applications/web design, and interactive multimedia. As part of the VCT faculty team, the individual will be expected to:

Qualifications:

Doctorate plus industrial experience preferred. Terminal degree or its equivalent with considerable industrial experience is required.

Nine month, tenure track faculty position in Graphic Arts Technology Management (printing and imaging management). An individual possessing qualifications to teach digital prepress technologies, graphic arts management, printing estimating, and an introductory level printing technology course is preferred. The College of Business and Public Administration and the Faculty in the Department of Industrial Technology at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, invites applications for the following tenure track position. The Department of Industrial Technology has an accredited NAIT program.

Assistant/Associate Professor of Industrial Technology to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Graphic Design/Communication. The qualified applicant will serve as the Coordinator for the Graphic Communication Technology curricular area and be expected to teach Graphic Layout and Design, Webpage Design, Photography, Desktop Publishing, and Multimedia Production.

In addition, the position requires involvement in theoretical and/or applied research activities, presentation of papers and publication in appropriate journals. Position: Curriculum Content Graphic Illustrator

General Function:
Designs, develops and produces original graphic elements for integration into instructional courseware that is used for distributed learning delivery in both CD-ROM and online formats as well as traditional classroom delivery.

Characteristic Duties:

  • Works closely with faculty and staff to design, develop, and produce graphic elements that illustrate conceptual material for classroom use. Graphic elements will be integrated into static content, interactive media and Web-based courses for both synchronous and asynchronous delivery.
  • Evaluates requests from faculty and staff for graphic element integration and recommends appropriate designs for required delivery methods.
  • Uses digital cameras, camcorders, scanners, graphic tablets, and other digital devices to create original graphic design elements for production.
  • Uses Web production tools such Macromedia Flash and graphic illustration software such as Macromedia FreeHand and Adobe Illustrator to design graphic elements.
  • Participates in the development and presentation of workshops for faculty and staff in the creation and use of graphics to enhance curriculum content for a variety of delivery modes.
  • Researches and recommends new technologies, processes, hardware and software for the production and integration of graphic illustration elements into learning technologies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of new graphics software and hardware. Attends appropriate conferences and seminars as needed. Prepares reports as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is primarily indoors and employee is subject to such hazards as electrical currents. Physical conditions may include light work that involves exerting up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally in order to move AV equipment, computers and peripherals as needed.

Supervision:
Reports to the Department of Instructional Technology Director. May supervise student aides as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree required in Graphic Arts or equivalent field. Mix of college course work and experience.

Experience:
Portfolio demonstrating accomplishments or aptitudes in the required skill areas. Thorough knowledge of graphic illustration software and web production tools required. Familiarity with Macromedia Director software a plus.

Bachelor's degree may substitute for up to two years of experience. Must be able to work occasional varied hours as required, including weekends and evening. Must be able to travel as required. Must know computer applications, business management, event planning and coordination. Must have excellent oral and written communication. Must be able to work effectively with a wide variety of people and to supervise the work of others. Must be able to maintain confidentiality, work independently using discretion and independent judgment, and establish cooperative working relationships with all levels of constituents. Must have regular full time attendance.

Responsibilities:
The College of Technology & Graphic Communications Technology curriculum, with courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, seeks to prepare individuals for positions of leadership in the graphic communications industries. Courses cover print, multimedia, and web design technologies. The position involves teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in digital Graphic Communications Technology (including those that are a substantive part of the College’s Training and Development curriculum), developing and implementing new credit courses, and developing certificate programs and courses. The successful candidate will be expected to develop televised and/or on-line delivery versions of courses and promote the program in business and industry.

Qualifications:
Candidates for this position must possess a doctorate. Only those with a strong research/publication record will be considered for Associate- or Full-Professor appointment. Candidates must be proficient with multimedia authoring software (such as Director) and web authoring software (such as Flash or GoLive). It is beneficial for candidates to also know electronic prepress software (such as QuarkXPress and Photoshop).   • A background in computer networking, image transmission, programming languages, and digital photography is also desirable.
  • Interest and ability in curriculum development for a management-oriented curriculum.

Position: Digital Prepress & Server Management

One full-time, twelve month, permanent non-teaching academic staff printing laboratory positions. The position to be filled is that of Digital Prepress & Server Management.

Duties include: Coordinates and schedules the use of the printing laboratories for research and/or teaching purposes. Maintains inventories and/or purchases equipment, chemicals and other supplies. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in engineering or science closely related to the disciplines of paper, printing, or chemical engineering, and a distinguished record of professional accomplishments, sufficient to qualify as a professor with tenure in the department. Candidates should have administrative or supervisory experience, and they should have familiarity with pulp, paper, printing, and related chemical process industries.

Graphic Communications Management


Position: Printing Laboratory Manager

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.

Responsibilities:
One full-time, twelve month, permanent non-teaching academic staff printing laboratory positions. The position to be filled is that of Digital Prepress & Server Management.

Duties include: Coordinates and schedules the use of the printing laboratories for research and/or teaching purposes. Maintains inventories and/or purchases equipment, chemicals and other supplies. Assists in set-up and maintenance of prepress lab equipment for instructional purposes. Develops and maintains safety protocols. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the prepress laboratories. Demonstrates equipment to students and provides assistance to them to complete projects.

This position is due to new program funding and planned growth of Graphic Communications Management at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Qualifications:
Applicants with the following preparation will be considered: (1) Bachelorís Degree required upon start of employment, plus three years work experience in Graphic Communications or related field required. (2) Related experience and demonstrated leadership preferred. (3) Strong telecommunications and computer server environment skills required.

Position Available: Anticipated tenure track teaching position in graphic communication technology for the Fall of 2002. Applicants must possess knowledge and experience in traditional printing methodology, and online publishing. A background in electronic page layout, illustration and image manipulation and correction also is essential.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate preferred, Master’s degree with appropriate business and/or teaching experience will be considered.

Rank and Salary: Rank and salary commensurate with academic preparation and past teaching/industrial experiences.
