This course deals with construction technology. Included are the basic construction systems of surveying and mapping, foundations, framing, exterior finish, interior finish, plumbing, electrical, and doors and windows. Also included are structure design and analysis, principles of construction management, and city and regional planning. Through lecture and lab experiences, students will:
- Develop technical understanding of basic construction practices and systems.
- Develop basic skill in the safe use of construction tools and equipment.
- Develop elementary competence in construction management practices.
- Develop economic literacy in construction finance and purchases.
- Develop an understanding of city/regional planning and economics.
- Develop a knowledge of vector analysis in the design and analysis of structures.
